The tomb of Prophet Hisikial mentioned in the Quran as "Dhu-l-Kifil". Hence the place is called Al Kifil. It is a large complex containing the tomb of Heskial (Ezekiel in the bible, Heskail in Iraqi) as well as other tombs of anonymous "Jewish holy men" (gaonim). There is also a disused synagogue, ruins of a mosque whose minaret is still standing.
Ezekiel, who preached to the Jews in exile by the waters of Babylon during the reign of Nebuchadnezzar, lived here relatively recently, by Mesopotamian standards. At the time he wrote down his ecstatic visions in the 6th century BC, local people could already trace their history back 2,500 years, to the dawn of our civilization. He is venerated by both Muslims and Jews.
